Roamless referral code not working? Start here

Updated 2026-09-05 · fact-checked against official Roamless sources

The referral code goes into the “Promo code” box at checkout — Roamless uses one field for both promo and referral codes, which is why people hunt for a separate referral box and conclude the code is dead. When it takes, the summary shows a REFERRAL line crediting US$5 and strikes out the $0.35 service fee. Screenshot below. The other causes are a device that has already had a code entered on it, a first purchase under US$5, more than 30 days since signup, or a promo code used instead — the two cannot be combined.

If you opened a Roamless referral link, the code is attached to it — Roamless uses AppsFlyer deferred deep linking, and the link carries the code plus an instruction to apply it. Check the app shows it before you pay. Deferred attribution is reliable but not certain; it can be lost if the install is interrupted, if you install from a different device than you clicked on, or if you had already installed the app earlier.

If it is missing, enter it manually — which is where most people go wrong.

Where it actually goes: the “Promo code” box

Roamless uses one field for both promo codes and referral codes. There is no separate referral box, which is exactly why people hunt for one, fail to find it, and conclude the code is dead.

On the checkout page, under “Apply a promo code”, paste the code into the Promo code field.

You can confirm it worked before paying. When the code is accepted the purchase summary adds a line reading “$5.00 Roamless Credit — REFERRAL — Free” above the total, and strikes out the $0.35 service fee. If that line is not there, the code did not apply.

Our own checkout, September 5 2026, not submitted. One field for both code types — and the REFERRAL line is how you verify it applied. Method and log.

A note on “Get Free Credits”: that screen is where you find your own code to share once you have an account. It is not where you enter someone else’s. We had this the wrong way round in an earlier version of this page and corrected it on September 5 — the correction is logged.

The referral is not only for credit top-ups

It applies to Roamless’s fixed data plans too. The same REFERRAL line appears when buying a plan:

The four rules that actually void it

Roamless publishes these plainly, and each one silently produces “the code didn’t work”:

One code per device, ever. Once a referral code is submitted it is associated with that account or device, and it cannot be re-entered on the same device under a different account. If you installed the app weeks ago and skipped the code, you cannot go back and add one on that phone.

The first purchase must be at least US$5. Pay-as-you-go credit or a data plan both count, but under US$5 does not qualify.

It must happen within 30 days of signup. The clock starts when the account is created, not when the code is entered.

Referral and promo codes cannot be combined. Roamless requires you to pick one before paying. Using a promo code means the referral does not apply — and the reverse. Which one is worth more depends on your top-up size; we work through that here.

What “not working” almost never means

The code being expired. Roamless referral rewards do not expire, and there is no upper limit on how many referrals one person can make — so a code that has been used many times is not “used up”. If a code is genuinely rejected, it is one of the four rules above, not the code itself.

If it still will not apply

Roamless support is reachable from inside the app. Give them the code, the account email, and the date you signed up — the 30-day window is the thing they will check first.

We check the rules on this page against Roamless’s own support documentation and record the date; the method and the log are on how we verify.

Frequently asked questions

Where exactly does the Roamless referral code go?

Into the field labelled “Promo code” in the checkout summary. There is no separate referral box — Roamless uses one field for both kinds of code. “Get Free Credits” is where you find your OWN code to share, not where you enter someone else’s.

I already have the app — can I still enter a code?

Only if this device has never had one entered. Roamless ties a submitted code to the account or device, and it cannot be re-entered on the same device under a different account. If you signed up earlier and skipped the code, that window has closed on that device.

Why did nothing arrive after my friend signed up?

Signing up is not enough. They have to make a first purchase of at least US$5 — pay-as-you-go credit or a data plan — and it has to happen within 30 days of their signup. Both conditions, or neither of you is paid.

Can I use a promo code as well?

No. Roamless makes you choose one at checkout. See promo code or referral code for which is worth more on your top-up size.
